Frequently Asked Questions
Will what I share in therapy sessions remain confidential?
Yes. The information that is discussed in session is privileged and will absolutely remain confidential unless you provide informed written consent for release of information to a third party such as another healthcare provider or insurance company. There are rare circumstances when confidentiality may need to be broken (e.g. imminent risk of harm to you or someone else); these are outlined on the intake form you will receive prior to your first session and we will discuss these circumstances again at the beginning of your first session.
Is therapy covered by extended health benefits or OHIP?
Many extended health benefit plans include coverage for therapy and if covered, the amount of coverage varies depending on the plan. It is your responsibility to check your coverage prior to booking your first session to ensure you have coverage for services offered by a Registered Psychotherapist. Psychotherapy is not currently covered by OHIP.
Do I need a referral from my doctor to book?
No. You generally do not need a referral from your doctor to access psychological services. Your insurance company may need a referral from your family doctor if the cost of therapy is being covered by insurance.
What if I need to reschedule my appointment?
If you need to reschedule your appointment you can log in to your Jane account to reschedule or you can reach out to me directly by phone or email. Your appointment time is reserved for you and I require (at least) 24 hours notice if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment. Sessions that are missed without notice or not rescheduled/cancelled with greater than 24 hours notice will be subject to the full session fee. Extenuating circumstances may be taken into consideration on a case by case basis.
Is direct billing available?
Direct billing is available for clients who access my services through Woodstock Chiropractic and Health only. Although most benefits plans are included in our direct billing options, some are not, and payment is due at the time of your session. If we can not process your payment through direct billing you can complete your payment by debit, credit or e-tranfser and I can provide you with an electronic receipt for you to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
